The Release Workshop, Age 18+ Thu, 6:30p
Reflect, set intentions, & practice mindfulness through guided multimedia art techniques. Ages 18+
Service Description
Ongoing: Every 4th Thursday, 6:30pm - 8:30pm Ages 18+ The Release is a monthly creative ritual designed for adults to reflect on their recent experiences and consciously architect the next “mini chapter” (month) of their lives. Acting as a somatic and soulful reset, this session is part creative lab, part stress-relief sanctuary, and part personal growth workshop. Each session is structured around three pillars: - The Somatic Unloading: We begin with evidence-based stress relief tools (movement, breath, or tactile grounding) to discharge the accumulated tension of the month. - The Introspective Pivot: Through guided "micro-journaling" and reflective prompts, participants identify what they are leaving behind and what they want to shift in the next “mini-chapter" of their life. - The Creative Manifestation: The session culminates in a multimedia deep dive. Using a different medium each month—from intuitive clay to expressive collage—participants create a physical anchor for their intentions. This is not a "how-to" class; it’s an experience where the personal act of making serves as a bridge to inner clarity, connection, and intention. Practice reflection, intention-setting, creative risk-taking, and mindfulness through confidence-building, and exposure to various multimedia art techniques. Come solo or bring your friends to release and renew! Class curriculum examples: - Bilateral marker scribbling to loosen the mind - Rhythmic oil pastel patterns - Watercolor with wax resist - Mandala creation - Neural flow doodling - Pen and ink exploration of dark/light - Aluminum foil sculptures - Crayon texture rubbings - Emotion-based printmaking All materials will be provided. Optional to bring: Journal or sketchbook About your instructor: Kylie Castellaw is a multimedia artist (BFA), cognitive specialist (MS Cognitive Psychology), and author dedicated to the intersection of creativity and wellbeing. As a parent of young children (and a struggler of balance-finding), Kylie’s work is deeply personal. She believes that creativity and somatic intelligence are fundamental life skills for the 21st century. Her goal is to help the next generation (and their parents) build resilient, inspired lives. Disclaimer: While this expressive arts offering may serve many of the same functions as art therapy or therapeutic art, this class is not a form of therapy.
