Texture & Detail Drawing, Sun, 3pm
Explore texture, shadow, and imagination in this quirky drawing class for all skill levels! Age 11+
Service Description
Ongoing, biweekly Sundays: 3:00pm - 5:00pm Ages 11+ Join us and learn to create detailed textures, observe how shadows behave (and misbehave), and explore how light and texture work together to bring life to your work. Each session--led by experienced artist and illustrator, Jessica--dives into the real art of seeing: not just what you think is there, but what actually is. You'll be building your eye and using your imagination to create the kinds of details that make drawings pop, or creep. Each class we will discuss the fundamentals of drawing, like pencil/pen strokes, lead values and hand pressure while working on creating a new texture(s), or understanding shadows and light. Get ready to stretch that imagination and create a unique piece you can take home with you, or build skills to add to your artwork later. Please bring the following with you: - Pencil set ranging in value from 2H - 8B - Smooth drawing paper/sketchbook - Blending sticks - Kneadable and regular erasers About your instructor: Jessica is classically trained artist, with BFA in concept design and visual development from Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She has spent over 10 years working as freelance illustrator and fine artist. She now works in multiple mediums including watercolor, acrylics, and water soluble oils, and teaches lots of our drawing and painting classes at "the Cat!"
