Service Description

Ongoing: Fridays, 4:30pm - 6:00pm (*Every First Friday, Teen Art Club will focus on emotion-based art with Kylie C) Ages 13-17 Students should be dropped off and picked up within 15 minutes of class start and end. We know how valuable it is for teens to have a safe, supportive space to express themselves and connect with others who share their interests. Teen Art Club offers a low-pressure environment where teens can collaborate, explore their creativity, and develop their skills—without the stress of grades. This program is designed to help students grow artistically, build portfolio-ready work, and participate in community-based group projects. They'll receive guidance in both independent and collaborative efforts. Students are encouraged to attend weekly but are welcome to join as their schedules allow. Sessions may include a range of mediums and techniques, such as drawing, acrylic or watercolor painting, collage, mosaics, pottery (in our Cat Clay studio), fiber arts, oil pastels, printmaking, cyanotypes, sculpture, photography, mural painting, and more. Some sessions will result in finished pieces students can take home, while others may involve longer-term or group projects, depending on the focus and goals of each student. *Every First Friday: In this supportive, art-based class for teens, students will explore emotions like fear, anger, joy, and sadness through creative expression. Each session includes a guided emotional check-in, journaling prompt, and hands-on art activities designed to help students identify, understand, and express feelings in healthy, meaningful ways. Led by a caring instructor with a background in fine arts and psychology, the class fosters emotional literacy, self-awareness, coping skills, and personal creativity. Items to bring each day: - Layered clothing (suitable for paint and similar messy materials) - Spill-proof water bottle - Non-messy snack, if needed
