Learn simple sculpting techniques while creating nature-themed clay projects! Age 9+
Service Description
Individual, 1-day workshops (register for each separately): every 2nd and 4th Saturday (starting August 8), 3:00pm - 5:00pm Beginner-intermediate; Ages 10+ In this beginner-friendly ceramics workshop, students will create a small, hand-built clay project inspired by nature. Each class will focus on one approachable project, such as a clay animal, bird, flower, or garden form. Students will be guided step-by-step through the process of building their piece from simple clay shapes, then adding structure, texture, and personality through basic sculpting techniques. This class is designed to be enjoyable, relaxed, and accessible for beginners, while still offering enough detail and creative freedom to benefit students with some previous clay experience. Students can expect clear demonstrations, hands-on guidance, and a finished greenware piece that will be left at the studio for drying and firing. An optional glazing session may be booked separately through the studio's "Beginner-Interm Handbuilding" or "Beginner-Interm Wheel Throwing" sessions for students who would like to return and glaze their project after it has been bisque fired. Your registration includes access to: - Tools/glazes - Guidance from your experienced instructor - Reclaimed B-mix clay (bringing your own clay is not recommended, as it may detract from the success of your final product) Cat Clay Studio Notes & Agreements: *To ensure consistent results and maintain studio safety, students should not bring outside clay, personal clay bodies, or outside tools. *The class will use studio-approved clay and tools only, so drying, handling, and firing results can be managed safely and predictably. *Pre-registration for our clay offerings is a requirement. Showing up without registering through our website does not guarantee you a spot, and means you may be turned away. *Long nails are not recommended for this activity.
