Service Description

Beginner-intermediate; Ages 5+ 1-day workshops (register for each separately): - Tue, Sept 8, 10:00am - 2:00pm - Thur, Sept 24, 10:00am - 2:00pm - Sun, Sept 27, 1:00pm - 5:00pm - Mon, Oct 5, 10:00am - 2:00pm - Fri, Oct 16, 10:00am - 2:00pm - Sun, Nov 15, 1:00pm - 5:00pm - Fri, Dec 4, 10:00am - 2:00pm Create ceramic bird houses and bird feeders. Students will choose from several construction methods, such as slab and coil building to create a home or feeder of their own design. After reviewing different samples, participants will choose a method of building and level of difficulty. They will then design and build their own creation under supervision of their Instructor. Students will build one or more items in the workshop. They will then be given a pass to attend a separate clay session to finish glazing their pieces after they have been bisque-fired by the Cat Clay studio. Your reservation includes access to: - Instruction/guidance - Clay - Access to ceramic tools if needed - Kiln firing by our instructors after your workshop Please bring with you: - Clothes that can get dirty - A snack Optional to Bring: - Apron - Personal set of tools, if preferred - Sketchbook or pictures of ideas that inspire you About your instructor: Casey has worked in a variety of media, including ceramics, printmaking, painting, and sculpture. He holds a B.A. from Boise State University and a Secondary Art Education certification. With more than 17 years as an art educator, including 15 years teaching high school, Casey taught pottery, sculpture, drawing, painting, photography, and printmaking. He also runs Gurr Studios, creating commissioned ceramics, murals, lettering, painted graphics, and automotive artwork. Cat Clay Studio Notes & Agreements: *Typically, trimming, glazing or underglazing cannot be done on pottery pieces that have just been made; please plan on booking another session to complete any trimming or glazing. *Pre-registration for our clay offerings is a requirement. Showing up without registering through our website does not guarantee you a spot, and means you may be turned away. *Long nails are not recommended for this activity
