Service Description
1-day workshop: Saturday, July 26, 5:00pm - 7:30pm Ages 15+ In this beginner-friendly Silverpoint Drawing workshop, you will explore the delicate and timeless technique of drawing with a metal stylus on specially prepared surfaces. Throughout the session, you will learn the fundamentals of silverpoint, including how to create fine, detailed lines and subtle tonal variations. The workshop will cover topics such as surface preparation, mark-making techniques, and the unique qualities of silverpoint as a medium. Expect hands-on guidance, with opportunities to practice both controlled, precise marks and looser, more expressive lines. By the end of the workshop, you will have a deeper appreciation for this historical technique and leave with a completed silverpoint drawing of your own! Whether you're an experienced artist or a beginner, this class offers a fresh and enriching approach to drawing. All supplies will be provided by your instructor or by Catalyst. Recommended to bring: - A sketchbook of your designs/drawings to reference during class About your instructor: Willow Wells, a New England artist inspired by the symbolism of old cemeteries and folklore, brings a unique depth to her work in painting, drawing, and printmaking. With a BFA from Lyme Academy and an MFA from the University of South Florida, she is skilled in traditional techniques that enrich her courses in printmaking, lithography, and paint-making, and silverpoint drawing. Willow's art invites reflection on the transformation of the human experience, making her classes an inspiring space for exploration and creative growth.
