Service Description
Individual, 1-day workshop: Saturday, October 17, 9:30am - 4:00pm Ages 14-Adult Join us on a beautiful fall day in Crouch, Idaho! Just a 45-minute drive from Boise, you'll find yourself surrounded by mountains, autumn colors, and the Payette River. We'll spend the day in a series of nature-inspired art projects, in a range of mediums. Make it a group day with friends or family, or a bestie day, or simply a solo getaway, something just for you, before the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holiday season. Our hope is that you'll leave feeling fresh and inspired! All activities are developed to allow success for beginners, while allowing more experienced artists a chance to try something new and take it further. Everyone is welcome. No art experience required. Workshop Schedule: 9:30-10:00am - Meet & Mingle - Enjoy refreshments and get to know others attending the workshop before we settle in for some art-making! 10:00-11:30am - Color Pencil workshop with Lisa Hlavinka - Lisa is a professional artist from Boise who specializes in the use of color pencils as a fine art medium. She'll share tools and techniques to bring your work to a new level, including layering, blending, color theory and how to make an impact with color. 11:30am-12:15pm - Break for Lunch - Lunch will be provided, or you're welcome to bring your own. We are happy to accommodate some dietary restrictions; leave your notes when you register. 12:15-2:15pm - After lunch, you'll meet with Catalyst Founder & Director, Candy Canning, for a short nature walk to forage for natural materials in the area. We'll return to the studio with our finds to share and identify, before using them to create nature prints using a simple printmaking technique. Explore composition in simple or complex ways, get creative with your design! 2:15-2:30pm - Short Break 2:30-4:00pm - We'll gather together again in our creative space with Candy for a collaborative project designed to help you let go of negative thoughts and feelings, and to help you re-frame your mind, as it relates to art and beyond. Working with oil sticks and gesso, we'll create a piece together that can be displayed at Catalyst, or divided among the group to take home. We will close with a journal prompt to inspire you beyond the workshop! All materials will be provided. You may consider bringing: - A spill-proof water bottle - Layered clothing - Good walking shoes - Prismacolor color pencils (if you have them) - A sketchbook
