Service Description

1-day class: Monday, June 3, 6:00pm - 9:00pm Ages 18+ (or 11+ with parent) As we head into the summer season it is common to feel worry not only about how our bodies will look to others, but also to our children. Evidence shows that children look to their parents/caregivers to role model how to feel about--and care for--their bodies. With bodily shame, eating disorders and other mental health conditions on the rise among our youth, it is more important than ever to support children so they can feel more at home in their bodies. This workshop is focused on body appreciation, with the goal of bringing more awareness to the messages you have been given about your body, and the messages you are passing on to those in your care. Join Carrie Panzer, LCSW, Psychotherapist and Licensed Be Body Positive Facilitator, for this expressive arts class focused on cultivating self-appreciation and intuitive self-care. This class will use a mix of personal and interactive exercises, and expressive journaling and collage. Please bring the following supplies with you: - 9x12" or 11x14" sketchbook with blank pages, that will lie flat when opened - Optional: Any journaling/art materials that you might like to use. E.g. colored pencils, water colors, markers, charcoal drawing pencils, gel pens, etc. Your preference on materials is entirely your choice, according to what you enjoy using. Many options will also be provided. All other materials are included. This workshop is open to all skill levels, and identities. Disclaimer: Please be aware that these non-clinical sessions aren't confidential and participants shouldn't reveal anything they don't want to be publicly known. If there are any signs of self-harm or harm to others, the facilitator is required by law to call the police to seek help. We cannot treat any illnesses.
