Service Description
2-session course over 3 weeks: March 29 & April 12, 12:00pm - 2:00pm Ages 15+ This is a two-session, intermediate (not beginner) drawing course focused on creative drawing & stretching the imagination while learning to master drawing techniques, textures, detail, and shadows with graphite/pencil (no charcoal). Each 2-session course will begin with a different prompt. In the first week of each course, you will learn the new prompt subject (i.e. Heart, Clown or Birthday) and begin the composition. Important to note: You will be coming up with your own drawing idea. In this creative drawing class you will learn to let your imagination loose and–after working through some composition ideas, guided by your instructor–your drawing will be based on your own response to the prompt subject. Students are encouraged to submit ideas for new course prompts! Between the first and second session of this course, you will be encouraged to work on your project and can reach out to the instructor for tips, questions and guidance through text or video chat. During the second session, we will refine the drawings and add the final details that make your creations come to life. We'll review how we achieved our desired effects, and we'll have the chance to share our work–whether still in-progress, or finished–for supportive feedback and guidance from the group. Please bring the following with you: - It's advised you bring a set of graphite pencils in a variety of values, 4H to 9B Optional to bring: - If you have paper or graphite pencils your prefer to use, bring those All other materials will be provided by Catalyst or your instructor. About your instructor: Brandy is a self taught artist, specializing in graphite/pencil and ink mediums. Her art is intense, highly detailed and called "creepy but cute". Brandy's teaching style will encourage you to use your imagination to see beyond what is right in front of you and then draw that! Your instructor, Brandy, will be available for project review via text or video call between the first and second sessions of your course. To inquire about reviewing your project during your course, please reach out to the Catalyst office phone, at 208-866-5521.
