Creative Aging: My Story, 4/16-5/21, 12p

Service Description

6 week course: Thur, April 16 - May 21, 12:00pm - 2:00pm This offering is part of our Creative Aging program, designed to help elderly adults with issues including isolation, depression, and ageism. However, registration is open to all adults (ages 18+) who might benefit. Ages 18+ Everyone has a story that is waiting to be told. "My Story" cards is a fun and easy project that will guide you through a creative process that helps you clarify and describe with images and words the important events of your life. Each of the six sessions will focus on a period of time between your birth and current age, bringing forth highlights of the experiences that have made you who you are today. This can serve as a legacy to leave for future generations. You will create mini collages to visually depict these important milestones and, using helpful prompts, write a brief story to accompany each. All supplies will be provided, however you are welcome and encouraged to incorporate your own photos and other memorabilia into your collages. To close each session you will have the opportunity to share your story in this safe, supportive environment as practice for future sharing with family, friends, and possibly your larger community. Over the span of this 6-week course, the sessions will be broken up into the following topics: 1. Childhood (Birth - age 12) Formation of the self 2. Teens - Young Adulthood (13 - 25) Education and move to Independence 3. Adulthood - Midlife (26 - 40) Creation of own family &/or career 4. Midlife - Maturity - (41 - 59) Further Development and Culmination 5. Elderhood - Present - (60 +) Retirement &/or whatever this time holds 6. Conclusion - Lessons Learned, Values, Hopes for future generations All materials will be provided by your instructor or by Catalyst. Optional to bring: - Layered clothing - Water/beverage with lid About your author: Charlotte Tarashanti draws from a rich mix of creative and healing practices. Char is a certified SoulCollage Facilitator, Feng Shui Consultant, and Enneagram Coach with more than twenty years in holistic healing as a Reiki Master Teacher, Aromatherapist, and Wellness Coach. A lifelong spiritual seeker, writer, and group facilitator, she later became an ordained Interspiritual Minister and served as a Hospice Chaplain. Her favorite visual medium is collage, though she enjoys exploring many forms and weaves her life experience into all she creates.
