Nica has always enjoyed art. She studied animation at SF State and continued her education after graduating and working full-time as an animator.

She works professionally now in the web design field, but came back to art in 2015 when she started created Poofies as holiday cards. Interest grew as she posted her work online and she created a small side business out of it.

She mostly paints in watercolor, through has ventured more recently into acrylic and fiber arts as the Poofies have expanded and grown. She also dabbles with Procreate to create digital versions.

Nica is currently a participating artist in the Catalyst gift shop and has taken classes at the Cat and also volunteered as a mentor.
