Service Description

Every other Sunday, 2-3:30pm - Ages 12-Adult This drop-in class is designed to introduce you to the art of visual journaling, great for any skill level. In this hands-on class, we'll explore journals as a method of self-expression, as well as a helpful tool in your daily life. Each class will cover one visual/artistic technique and one practical element of journaling to practice in class and until our next one. Every session will cover something new, so you'll be able to grow as an artist and writer with every session you attend. Find your own style and voice, experiment with different layouts and media, and create a journal uniquely your own. Process emotions, track your life, document your experiences. Great for teens and adults needing a place to contemplate life's ups and downs. Each class lasts approximately 90 minutes and is stand-alone, so you can start anytime, without the need to attend every session. Be sure to book each class you'd like to participate in on our website, as space is limited to 12 people per session. Get inspired by the instructor, as well as the other journalers you'll meet each week! The talented Sarah Day will serve as your guide, sharing techniques she's learned and used in her own journals over the years. Please bring with you: - Journal or notebook - Writing utensil(s) + any other supplies/tools you'd like to use - A creative mindset (or at least the intention to create or be inspired in some way!) Optional: - Layered clothing, as the temperatures may be difficult to manage in the building - A water bottle We will supply: - Supplies for each individual class, as needed (i.e. collage materials, scissors, glue, texture plates, stickers, tape, gel pens, etc.) This event may be cancelled if a minimum number of 2 participants is not reached. We will notify you via email in this case. Scholarships for this and all of our other classes are available for those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to generous donations to our Art Start Fund. If you would like to make classes available to others, see our sponsorships page to contribute a monthly or one-time donation. Thank you for supporting (y)our commUNITY!
