Service Description

6-week course: Saturdays, October 12 - November 16, 3:30pm - 5:00pm Ages 15 - Adult Do you have a science fiction or fantasy world that's always on your mind? Are you struggling with the perfect magic word the hero needs to say to win the battle? Or do you have 1,000 space ships designed, but no characters to pilot them? This course will help you go from having a world in your head to putting it down on paper through hands-on exercises and readings from esteemed writers such as Ted Chiang, Alice B.Sheldon, NK Jemisin, and Ursula K. LeGuin. Even if you're an experienced writer, this course is designed to kickstart your next project. By the end, you'll have the tools you need to stop speculating and start writing. Experienced writer, cartoonist, and educator, Vannotes, will be your guide! Please bring the following with you: - A notebook and your writing utensil of choice - Or a laptop Optional: - Layered clothing, as the temperatures may fluctuate in our building - Water/beverage with lid Scholarships for this and all of our other classes are available for those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to generous donations to our Art Start Fund.
