Service Description

2-week course: Saturdays, January 25 - February 1, 4:30pm - 6:30pm Ages 15+ (ideal for intermediate artists) Students will learn how to create Lithographic prints with simple and accessible materials. Lithography usually requires heavy lifting, chemicals, and professional facilities, However, we will be learning an approach that you can do with common household items! The results of his form of printmaking closely resemble straight black-and-white drawings. Our first class will be used to practice the technique through trial and error, while our second class will allow us time to develop a solid drawing to print a small edition. Week 1: Practice! Week 2: Edition! All supplies (Grease Crayons, Tin Foil, Oil-based ink, Sponges, etc.) will be provided by the instructor or by Catalyst. Optional items to bring: - A sketchbook for ideas and notes! - Layered clothing - Water in a spill-proof lid Prerequisites: - Basic knowledge of drawing Willow Wells, a New England artist inspired by the symbolism of old cemeteries and folklore, brings a unique depth to her work in painting, drawing, and printmaking. With a BFA from Lyme Academy and an MFA from the University of South Florida, she is skilled in traditional techniques that enrich her courses in printmaking, lithography, and paint-making. Willow's art invites reflection on the transformation of the human experience, making her classes an inspiring space for exploration and creative growth. Scholarships for this and all of our other classes are available for those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to generous donations to our Art Start Fund.
