3-week course - Wednesdays, September 13-27 - 4:00pm - 6:30pm Ages 10+ Perfect for beginner to advanced clay artists, this 3-week course will teach you how to create functional, ceramic lamps, clocks, or fountains! You’ll be guided through the design considerations and assembly process by experienced Cat Clay teacher, Casey, who will also assist with the wiring and testing of your chosen projects. Pick your favorite handbuilding method (pinch, coil, slab, sculpture) and/or try your hands at throwing on the pottery wheel and create a uniquely functional piece of art for your home. Entry level students will work on simpler designs–like clocks–to build an understanding of the basics of ceramics, while more advanced or adventurous students may wish to attempt a lamp or fountain project. You’ll likely leave with 1-3 finished projects, after all kiln firings are complete. Please bring with you: - Clothes that can get dirty - Water/beverage in container with spill-proof lid - Layered clothing, as the temperatures can fluctuate in our large building - (Optional) Photos for inspiration All studio rules must be followed at all times for everyone's safety. Scholarships for this and all of our other classes are available for those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to generous donations to our Art Start Fund. If you would like to make classes available to others, see our sponsorships page to contribute a monthly or one-time donation. Thank you for supporting (y)our commUNITY! *This class is included in our Teacher Share program, which allows our teachers to expand their knowledge and skills by learning from one another at no cost.
