Exploring Glitch Textures - 4/4 - 7:30pm
Experiment with analog glitch textures by incorporating them into your own art! Ages 12+
- 2 hr2 hours
- New Cat Classroom and Cat Clay Studio (6427 W Ustick Rd, Boise)
Thursday, April 4, 7:30pm - 9:30pm Ages 12+ Experiment with analog technology to create “retro” graphics! During this FREE class, we’ll broadcast a piece of your art onto an array of TVs and utilize glitch circuits to dial in your desired level of texture, putting a new spin on your work. The glitchy style you’ll experiment with has become a mainstay of graphic design in recent years, but the results of physical, retro technology just can’t be imitated by modern programs. In addition to experience, you’ll leave the Cat with a video file of the experimentation you did in class! Video artist, Justin Blauch, will be your guide in this unique class. All supplies–including TVs, a video mixer, video effects unit, laptop, digital camera, and tripod–will be provided; but prior to class, we ask that you send us an image or video file of a piece of your art to manipulate during the session. Please email the following to us before the start of class: - An image or video file of a piece of your art Emails can be sent to CatalystArts.Mktg@gmail.com with the subject line, "Glitch Image/Video File" The following items are encouraged, but not required: - A water bottle with a spill-proof lid - Layered clothing, as the temperatures may fluctuate in our building Scholarships for this and all of our other classes are available for those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to generous donations to our Art Start Fund.
