Service Description
Ongoing: Every 3rd Friday, 10:00am - 11:30am Ages 2-5 (Check our classes page for "Emotion through Art" sessions for other age groups!) Looking to connect with your little one in a creative environment while learning tools for emotional regulation? This Parent (or guardian!)-and-me class will help kids and grownups alike identify, express, understand, and regulate big feelings. Emotions covered include fear, anger, joy, and sadness/grief. We’ll start each session with an emotional check in followed by a short interactive story time that includes ideas for emotional identification, processing, and regulation. Pairs will then learn 1-3 ways to creatively express the highlighted emotion of the day with a chance to practice each. The session will end with an optional sharing of creative pieces (art pieces, music, movement, poetry, performance etc.) and discussion of ways each pair hopes to integrate the learning in their daily lives. Pairs will leave with a better understanding and appreciation of themselves and each other, plus a strengthened bond and connection. Led by a caring professional (and mother of two) with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts and a Masters of Psychology, this group offers a unique blend of scientific understanding of emotions and the power of creative expression.
