1-day class - Sunday, October 15 - 12:00pm - 1:30pm Ages 14+ Design is a crucial skill to learn for all artists. There are guidelines that all artists use to create an effective composition on their paper/canvas, which engages the viewer in a more effective way than haphazardly arranged shapes and colors. This class will focus on the principles of design and composition that apply to all forms of visual art, focusing primarily on 2-D work in any medium, style or genre. You'll learn each element and principle, including rule of thirds, tangents, flow, as well as color theory. Once you've mastered the basics, you'll experiment with your own works, making them more dynamic and with overall better design. See your work transform into more powerful imagery in just a few short weeks. Open to all skill levels. Classically trained, professional artist, Jessica Henry, will be your guide. All materials are provided. Optional items to bring: - Artwork samples you have made in the past to review - Layered clothing, as the temperatures may fluctuate in our large building - Bottled water/beverage Scholarships for this and all of our other classes are available for those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to generous donations to our Art Start Fund.
