Service Description

3-week course: Saturdays, March 8 - March 22, 4:00pm - 5:30pm Ages 16+ This beginner-friendly linoleum relief printing course begins by giving you an overview of the history of relief printmaking, and of contemporary artists working within the medium. After discussing the basics of composition, you'll spend time developing a drawing or idea, and learn different ways to represent that image by cutting designs into linoleum. This medium is also called "linocut!" Each student will leave the class with an understanding of--and experience in--carving and "editioning" (i.e. using your linoleum carving and ink to produce one or more relief prints) a linoleum print; their linoleum carving; and their print(s)! Please bring the following with you: - Sketchbook/sketch paper - Writing utensils of your choice All other supplies are included! Optional: - Layered clothing - Water/beverage with lid Willow Wells, a New England artist inspired by the symbolism of old cemeteries and folklore, brings a unique depth to her work in painting, drawing, and printmaking. With a BFA from Lyme Academy and an MFA from the University of South Florida, she is skilled in traditional techniques that enrich her courses in printmaking, lithography, and paint-making. Willow's art invites reflection on the transformation of the human experience, making her classes an inspiring space for exploration and creative growth.
