See "Memberships and Passes" for more info. Learn and practice foundational visual arts concepts in this exploration-based and engaging class. No experience necessary--all that's required is a sense of discovery, an open mind, and a willingness to get slightly messy! Each class will focus on an individual component of visual art, such as Color, Contrast, Pattern, or Form (shape). We'll start with a warm up to get your kids and teens in the zone to create, then practice 1-3 techniques while introducing core concepts along the way. Expect to come out of class with some new knowledge and vocabulary, 1-3 pieces of art, and a confidence boost! Neither perfection nor artistic realism are the goals--just fun, self-expression, and learning! Parents/caregivers are welcome to attend with their littles free of charge. Upcoming curriculum: Sat, 3/29: Color mixing and basic theory Sun, 4/13: Contrast and shading exploration Sat, 5/10: Pattern/texture creation and mixing Sat, 5/24: Shapes and spaces in design Optional to bring: - Layered clothing (suitable for paint and similar messy materials) - Spill-proof water bottle - Non-messy snack, if needed Your instructor, Kylie, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in graphic design from the University of Idaho. After receiving training in cognitive psychology, her day job has been as a designer and researcher in the tech industry for the last several years. She's a dabbler in all sorts of artistic mediums, including printmaking, collage, painting, ceramics, found nature object crafting, and mixed media. A mom of two, she's passionate about creating art, books, and classes to help the next generation.
