Service Description

Saturday, December 2 - 2:00 pm - 6:30pm Ages 17+ Learn everything you need to know about artist residencies from experienced artist--and Surel's Place Artist-in-Residence--Willow Wells. After covering a summary of what an artist residency is, this intensive workshop will explain where to find them, how to receive funding, and tips for navigating deadlines. You'll learn how to navigate writing your required materials, including your artist statement, biography, project proposals, and community engagement, before ending the workshop with a portfolio discussion. You'll even leave the Cat with a list of fully-funded residencies, and resources! You can read more about Willow Wells here: And more about Willow's residency here: Please bring the following with you: - A pen/pencil and note pad The following items are encouraged, but optional: - A water bottle with a spill-proof lid - A laptop or tablet - Layered clothing, as the temperatures may fluctuate in our large building Scholarships for this and all of our other classes are available for those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to generous donations to our Art Start Fund.
